SELANGAU: A lorry driver died after his oil palm fruit laden lorry plunged into a ravine at Batu 26 Sepiring, Jalan Selangau-Bintulu on Tuesday.
State Traffic Police chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said that the deceased – identified as Saidi Sahari, 35 – was driving along KM2 Jalan Balak, a plantation area, when he lost control of the lorry.
“The 4pm incident happened when the deceased was driving down a hill before his lorry crashed on the left shoulder of the road and plunged into the ravine.
“Firefighters from Selangau fire station were dispatched to the scene and the process to save the victim took a long time as the front of the lorry was buried in the dirt and in an upside down position,” he said.
The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Selangau Health Clinic and the body was taken to Mukah Hospital for further action.
