KUCHING: A lorry driver was fined RM900 in default one month in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here, for intentionally causing pain to his employer by punching him in the face.
Nabil, 30, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to a charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries up to one year in jail or up to RM2,000 fine or both, upon conviction.
He committed the offence at Taman Perindustrian Sejingkat, Jalan Bako around 10.30 am on Oct 19.
According to the facts of the case, Nabil engaged in an argument with his employer at his workplace as he did not follow instructions regarding the arrangement of items in the lorry.
It is understood that the accused told his employer that the goods in the lorry he was driving were full but, the employer told him to unload the goods to be rearranged to include other goods from another company.
Nabil then scolded his employer stating that the goods were overloaded and could not load any more goods in the lorry.
Furious with his employer’s attitude and failing to control his emotions, he got off the lorry and punched his employer.
After the incident, the employer lodged a police report, which led to the accused’s arrest on the same day.
Insp Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted the case while Nabil was unrepresented by a counsel.
