Lorry driver on remand for two days over quarrel

MIRI: A 38-year-old lorry driver was on Tuesday remanded for two days to assist police probe over a quarrel incident with his 53 year-old girlfriend at Miri polyclinic in Jalan Merbau here on Monday night.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad.

Initially, the prosecution officer requested for four days remand.

The accused will be produced at Miri Magistrate Court on March 14.

According to the charge, on Monday March 11 at 8.30pm the accused was involved in a squabble with his girlfriend while she was receiving medical treatment at the polyclinic.

Sparked by the incident, the on-duty medical personnel at that time called the polyclinic security for assistance.

The accused was later handed over to the police for further action.
