SRI AMAN: An oil spill stretching 6km in front of the Public Works Department (JKR) Sri Aman office was caused by a lorry’s tank leakage.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were alerted of the incident at 10.17am, and firefighters from the Sri Aman station were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed the presence of an extensive oil spill caused by a leak in the lorry’s tank, which belonged to a company.
Further examination revealed that the spill covered a distance of 6km and the responsible company has been directed to initiate an immediate cleanup of the spilled oil.
The team only monitored the situation to ensure the safety of road users.
Fortunately, no accidents were reported as a result of the oil spill. The operation concluded at noon.
