BAU: Two women, who lost their way while hiking at Bung Muan, Jalan Bau Lama, were safely guided down from the mountain last night (Aug 3).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were alerted of the incident by one of the victims at around 2.20 pm yesterday.

It was reported that the women, both aged 25, started their hike around 9 am and were unable to find their way back.

Firefighters from Bau fire station were promptly deployed to the scene, about 14km away, to initiate the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Upon arrival, the team together with the locals went up the mountain to locate the women, who managed to stay in contact with the rescuers via their phones.

Both victims were found unharmed and were led down from the mountain by the team.

Once everyone was safe, the operation ended at 9.37 pm.
