KUCHING: “Love Crush” director Johan Khairil said authenticity and accuracy is crucial when it comes to character representation, especially in the context of a Sarawakian film narrative.
Using the film as an example, he said the location and characters stay true to the local context.
“For example, the names of the three characters, Nasha Ambrose, Johan Sabang and Julia Jala are quite common here.
“And the story as well, is based on our personal experiences, which we all can relate to a certain extent.
“As for the location, we are using actual locations such as Kuching, Bau because that is where the story is based in,” he said during a press conference on the principal photography for the film here yesterday (Sept 10).
Additionally, he said the language being used is Sarawakian Malay and English which caters to the locals here.
“The dialogue used is a mix of the languages as I said just now, which makes the authenticity even more stronger.
“Even the visual and shots that we use, we showcase the Ibu Pertiwi flag, the Astana Negeri,” he added.
Love Crush which is co-produced by Teeb TV Networks Sdn Bhd and Hamsa Media PLT, is slated to be released sometime next year.
Also present during the press conference was Deputy Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
