KUCHING: “Love, learn and lead” was the key takeaway from the leadership course conducted by YAST Group founder and chairlady, Esther Law.
In shaping great leaders, she said all leadership starts from within oneself, with added value such as love, learn and lead.
“To embrace and enjoy good life, we must make full use of these three (love, learn and lead) by loving oneself and others; learn unceasingly and wholeheartedly; and leading oneself, not others.
“If we can lead ourself well, we are able to lead others and people will eventually follow. Hence, why it is important for leaders to keep learning and self-examine, self-reflect and self-improve every day in order to nourish others,” she said in her talk entitled “How to Be a Real Success” held at YAST Group office here, today.
About 47 employees from two local dailies, New Sarawak Tribune (NST) and Suara Sarawak (SS) attended the talk, with the presence of NST and SS chief executive officer Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir.
Meanwhile, Law also highlighted that as leaders, one must be equipped with the appropriate knowledge to be great leaders which helps to grow the vision of an organisation.
“Great leaders grow their vision from ‘me’ to ‘we’. As a leader, it is their duty to spot people’s ability and strength to help unlock one’s potential. This is what leaders do,” she said.
She also stressed that attitude and respect is the keyword for equality in leadership.
The almost two-hour talk provided an understanding on the meaning of success and its importance as well as to translate it into action to implement into real life.
