KUCHING: Lea Sport Centre (LSC) Sdn Bhd continues to show their strong support for the local sporting events by sponsoring Sarawak Divisional League 2017 tournament.

Chairman of the State local tournament committee Cassidy Morris said the strong and continuous support from LSC in organising major tournaments and leagues for over the past 20 years showed they are serious in their efforts to help developing sports in the state.

“The supports from LSC is nothing new. Since 1994, or for the past more than 20 years, LSC Sdn Bhd has always given strong backing, providing unfailing support to Football Association of Sarawak (FAS),” said Cassidy during a press conference held at State Stadium, in Petra Jaya, yesterday.

Also present yesterday was LSC Sdn Bhd Senior Operation Manager Poh Siok Hoon.

Cassidy also noted that through the Sarawak Divisional League 2017, new talent will be selected to represent their division for the prestigious Sarawak Cup 2017 to be held in Mukah.

Through this initiative, he said, it would help to showcase the potential of local talents, especially in the rural areas.

Sarawak Cup in October meanwhile would serve as a venue to select potential players to be roped into the Sarawak team.

12 divisions namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang will be taking part in the leagues.

To expedite the organising of the leagues, FAS has fixed a maximum of eight teams in each league at the divisional level.

The football leagues in all divisions this year would start simultaneously from July to August starting with Sri Aman and all matches will be held at the respective participating district.
