Its chairman Councillor Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, in a statement today, said the office was closed because one of its staff had been confirmed positive for Covid-19.

“We received a notification that one of our staff from the section was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on May 5 due to close contact with a positive patient.”

Sempurai has instructed all council staff who had been in contact with the staff concerned to go for PCR tests.

“MDLBS will start sanitation work on the floor. As such, people who conduct business related to the council must strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) when visiting our office.

“The council seeks your understanding and appreciates your cooperation for the safety and well-being of the general public and the council. We also apologise for the inconvenience,” added Sempurai.
