Lulie elected as a new fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).

KUCHING: Datuk Dr Lulie Joshua Melling was recently elected as new fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).

The Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (Tropi) director was among the six fellows elected into Biological, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Discipline during the academy’s 28th Annual General Meeting.

The others elected were Prof Dr Lim Phaik Eem, Prof Dr Rosfarizan Mohamad, Prof Dr Tang Thean Hock, Prof Dr Wong Mui Yun and Prof Dr Zulqarnain Mohamed.

ASM supports good science by endorsing activities of highest fulfillment to promote engagement, understanding and literacy in science, technology and innovation.

Meanwhile, Lulie, 57, has contributed significantly to the fields of soil science and tropical peatland.

In addition, she was also reelected as the Malaysian Peat Society (MPS) president for the 2023-2025 term.
