KUCHING: The Ministry of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development (M-Ficord) emerged victorious in the badminton doubles event at the Sarawak Inter-Ministerial Sports (SUKEMSAR) on Saturday (Feb 17).
According to an UKAS report, the M-Ficord players secured the win by defeating the doubles pair from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDENR).
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Premier’s Department (JPS) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) shared the third-place spot.
The medal presentation for the tournament was overseen by Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts permanent secretary Datuk Sherina Hussaini.
Speaking at the SUKEMSAR closing ceremony for the Badminton Games at the Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain Badminton Hall, she said the organisation of the event is a vehicle for fostering relationships and promoting leisure activities among ministries.
She also highlighted the role of sports in enhancing the productivity of Sarawak civil servants in carrying out their duties.
Regarding SUKEMSAR, the competitions are being held in stages starting from Feb17 and will conclude on Feb 25.
The sports being contested include badminton, netball, futsal, e-sports, tenpin bowling, and darts.
Also present at the ceremony was MTCP deputy permanent secretary Desmond Douglas Jerukan.
