KUCHING: Four out of the five federal ministers from Sarawak paid a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here today.
They are Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Women Development, Family and Community Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and Minister of Unity, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
Upon his arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA) this afternoon, Fadillah said Minister of Tourism Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing could not attend the meeting with Abang Johari due to his commitment with the agencies under his ministry.
Fadillah stated that the purpose of the meeting was to get guidance on what they should prioritise for Sarawak in terms of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“Based on what we had discussed in the Cabinet level, from there then we will have a talk on our role from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the unity government,” he said.
When asked on the Unity Agreement signature within the unity government, Fadillah revealed that the matter only involved presidents of the political parties who joined the unity government.
“It is not my place to say such matters as I will be handling the MA63 issues only,” he added.
He added that the discussion would be among the leaders within the supreme council of GPS.
“We are going to ask them on guidance on how we are going to fight for Sarawak’s rights.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also has told us that any short term issues regarding MA63 should be solved in one month,” he added.
Fadillah added that other long term issues would be brought to the Parliamentary sitting which is scheduled to be held on Dec 19.
