KUCHING: The Sarawak MA63 Solidarity Peace Demonstration will be held at Padang Merdeka on January 19.
The event aims to promote awareness of the importance of the state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Initiated by Kelab Kesetiaan Sarawak, it is organised in collaboration with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“Over 1,000 people from all over the state are expected to take part in the event which is scheduled to start at 3.00pm.
“Some speakers and I will be giving speeches on the MA63 issues,” the club chairman and organising chairman Abdul Halim Hamdan told a press conference at the Square Tower here.
He said the event was not related to any political party.
“It is our own initiative and we already have the licence to conduct this peaceful demonstration from the local authorities,” he added.
The event will conclude with a pledge and signing of the pledge.
Halim reminded the participants to park their vehicles at Saujana Building, Plaza Merdeka, Merdeka Palace and Civic Centre.
Also present at the press conference were the club’s assistant chairman Suzie Ukong and member Abdul Karim.
The club was established in 2014.
