KUCHING: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has reaffirmed its commitment to fully support the Sarawak government’s efforts in ensuring the state remains free from corruption, abuse of power and misconduct.
Outgoing MACC Sarawak director Datuk Mohd Zaki Hassan emphasised their dual focus on operational tasks and prevention programmes aimed at raising public awareness about the dangers of corruption.
“We are also actively improving governance within Sarawak’s departments to safeguard against financial mismanagement by revising procedures or acting as advisors,” he said.
He told the media this following a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang AJohari Tun Openg at Wima Bapa Malaysia today (June 19).
Mohd Zaki will be transferred to Putrajaya as director of the Governance Investigation Division at MACC Headquarters, after serving over six years as MACC Sarawak director.
He expressed confidence that with the Premier’s support, MACC Sarawak would continue to excel in its efforts to combat corruption in the region.
He also highlighted MACC Sarawak’s pride in its achievements, particularly in strengthening the anti-corruption framework through the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNIONS).
“We are proud to play a role in the Sarawak government’s anti-corruption efforts,” he asserted.
