KUCHING: The Madani Agro Sales at Medan Niaga Satok here will offer the public fresh agricultural produce at 10 to 30 per cent lower prices than in the local market.

The Madani Agro Sales is a rebranding of the Jualan Terus Dari Ladang (JTDL) programme that has been implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

It is implemented through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), the Farmers’ Organisation Board (LPP) and Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM).

Fama Chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said the Madani Agro Sales will be expanded with a target of 5,000 sales sessions this year, which is expected to benefit 7.2 million households with an estimated savings of RM17.25 million.

“It can contribute to increased accessibility and availability to make it easier for consumers to get fresh products at a reasonable price,” he said during the launching of the Madani Agro Sales here Saturday (Jan 13).

The sales offers various agro-food items such as fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, chicken, meat, and eggs directly from farmers at a cheaper price.
