KUCHING: The Madani Government will assist 60,000 underprivileged students with funding for flight tickets to return to their hometowns.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that part of the revenue generated from the sale of special licence plates will be specifically allocated to support low-income students from Sabah and Sarawak.
Additionally, government resources will be utilised to cover the costs of motorcycle licences for 15,000 underprivileged youth, including secondary school students, university students, and young job seekers.
The government will also distribute 67,000 free helmets to low-income families to ensure the safety of their children, funded by the same revenue stream.
Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, announced these initiatives while presenting the 2025 Budget in Parliament, today (Oct 18).
The budget, themed ‘Madani Economy: Prosperous Nation, Well-being of the People,’ marks Anwar’s third budget since he took office in 2022.
This budget also signifies the conclusion of Malaysia’s 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and aims to establish a foundation for the forthcoming 13th Malaysia Plan (2026-2030), all while tackling critical economic challenges.
