PADAWAN: Sarawakians are urged to collectively honour and recognize the enduring contributions of soldiers who have dedicated themselves to the nation’s security since pre-independence.

First Infantry Division Headquarters Muara Tuang Camp chief of staff Colonel Mohamed Rosly Darasid said the sacrifices of these soldiers have been instrumental in ensuring the ongoing peace and security of the people.

“Sarawak is a diverse state supported by a population from various cultural backgrounds, customs, and traditions, forming the foundation of national unity.

“I sincerely hope that the Malaysian community, especially the people of Sarawak, will continue to stand together to support the Malaysian Armed Forces, ensuring that peace and security endure indefinitely,” he said.

Rosly conveyed this sentiment in his official address during the inauguration speech at the opening ceremony of the Jom Heboh Carnival with the Malaysian Armed Forces, commemorating the 53rd anniversary of SK Sejijak 2023 here today (Dec 9).

He stressed that the promotion of events like today’s through strategic partnerships is strongly endorsed, aligning with the Ministry of Defense of Malaysia’s recommendation. This ensures that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) engagement with the local community remains in harmony with the carnival theme, “The Military Always In the Hearts of The People.”

According to him, each programme’s execution is intended to contribute value and have a positive impact on the community as a whole, enhancing understanding of the military’s roles in defending the nation.

“As we are aware, the involvement of special branches under the 1st Infantry Division Headquarters will provide a new experience for the attending visitors.

“This exposure will include insights into the assets and weapons used by the military, understanding how soldiers cook during military operations, and most intriguingly, witnessing our soldiers engaging in survival activities in the jungle and observing their way of life during operations.

“In this regard, I take this opportunity to call on all segments of society to continue supporting the armed forces in defending our nation,” he commented

He also extended invitations to young individuals and government officials to join the Territorial Army (Askar Wataniah) as a reserve force for the military.
