KUCHING: Mahathir Zailani prevailed over seven other finalists in the Bintang Patriotik (Patriotic Star) 2018 contest organised by Malaysian Information Department at Pasaraya Mydin Vista Tunku, Petra Jaya Monday.
With the win he took home RM500 cash voucher and hamper courtesy of Pasaraya Mydin. His winning numbers were ‘Melati di Tapal Batas’ as a compulsory song while the song of his own choice was ‘Rayuan Maut’.
In second place was Zayed Rizal who took home a voucher worth RM350 and hamper thanks to choosing his compulsory song ‘Warisan’ and his personal choice of ‘Dia’.
Nur Hijrah Yahya was placed third and won a voucher worth RM200 plus a hamper. Her compulsory song was
‘Pahlawanku’ while ‘Kuteruskan’ was her own chosen song.
Meanwhile the five other finalists did not go home empty-handed. These five, namely Hamirol Hamid, Efendi Jemat, Rina Ramlee, Seniah Merikan and Sharifah Hanifah Tengku Imam, each took home a voucher worth RM100 plus a hamper courtesy of Mydin.
Meanwhile, Sharifah Hanifah won the hearts of the judges with her performances to win ‘Best Performance’ award and received a voucher worth RM100 plus a hamper, not to mention a thunderous applause from the appreciative audience.
The Patriotic Star competition was part of the My Merdeka Programme
“Sayangi Malaysiaku” held by Ministry of Communication and Multimedia in collaboration with Malaysian Information Department together with Pasaraya Mydin in conjunction with the Independence Month 2018 at five Mydin locations nationwide, namely in Penang, Selangor, Perak, Johor and Sarawak.
It is a platform to give an awareness of patriotisme among Malaysian nationals as well as to inculcate a sense of unity and integration among them.
Also present were General Manager of Pasar Raya Sarawak MYDIN Vista Tunku Petra Jaya, Sutaghani Ahmad Zaidoll and Director of Visual Communication and Graphics Section, Putrajaya, Mohd Roffee Mohamad.
