MARUDI: Marudi area is targeted to be the main producer of Musang King durians in Sarawak in the near future.
According to news report in Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), it was found that Marudi have a very suitable area in producing the king of fruits.
Thus, a Durian Musang King Cultivation and Maintenance Course was held by the Miri Division Agricultural Training Centre at the Marudi Theatre recently.
“Participants consisted of farmers who successfully planted Musang King seedlings around Marudi District.
“To ensure this target is successful, the Miri Division Agriculture Department will work together with Marudi District Agriculture Department to monitor from time to time the development of the Durian Musang King crops belonging to the participants to ensure that ithey achieve the expected results,” UKAS said.
It said during the course, participants were introduced to the proper techniques and how to care for Musang King durian seedlings.
“Besides that, to provide motivation and inspiration to the participants, the organiser invited farmers who have successfully planted Musang King from the Beluru district to give briefings on the proper care methods and on incomes earned from planting Musang King durians,” it said.
