MUKAH: Residents in Tanjung Pedada expressed their frustration over the main road connecting the residents to the outlying areas that are now flooded again since Jan 12.
According to Tuai Rumah (TR) Mawar Awang previously, his people had voiced out to upgrade the road due to the current problem.
“There was no news on our application to upgrade the road in Tanjung Pendada for the past two years until now and this area is flooded again.
“The main road in Nanga Tingkas Sebakong has sunk to four feet and even the four-wheel drive Hilux could not even pass through,” he told Suara Sarawak recently.
He also expressed his frustration due to no action being taken by the authorities until now since the application was made on Jan 12, 2018.
“I hope that this sedimentary road will be enacted because it will be the lifeblood of the residents in the 18 longhouses here.
“The flood season occurs yearly and this road will definitely be flooded as it is now,” he added.
He further revealed that the 100-meter-long road is important for all the residents of the longhouses for them to go out and buy the necessities needed in the city but now, unfortunately, they had completely lost the only way out due to the flood.
It is estimated that more than 1,800 residents have settled in the Tanjung Pedada Sebakong Mukah area covering 18 longhouses and a village.
