MAINTENANCE work on the Kapit indoor stadium is schedule to commence in January next year.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the construction period would take of eight months.
“The Kapit Indoor Stadium is currently in the process of preparing tender documents which will be advertised under the Competitive Contractor Programme (PKBS) this month.
“Meanwhile, a tender briefing was held on Nov 7,” he said in a reply to Wilson Nyabong Ijang (GPS-Pelagus) during question-and-answer time today.
Earlier, Wilson had asked on the progress of the repairs to the Kapit indoor stadium and Kapit swimming pool.
On the swimming pool, Rentap said the maintenance work is scheduled to begin in December over a period of six months.
“Currently, the Kapit swimming pool is still in the advertisement phase, with the advertisement set to close on Nov 20,” he said.
On the scope of work for the swimming pool, Rentap said it will include the replacement of two recirculation pumps to replace the old pumps with new installations, including electrical work for the pump switchboard and the replacement of sand and equipment for two water filter tanks.
He added that the maintenance will be conducted on two chemical dosing pumps, two aerator mixer motors, and the replacement of a 10′ foot valve and other fittings.
“As for the Kapit indoor stadium, the scope of work includes building work on the external ceiling (metal cladding complete with support system) by professional engineers,” he said.
