BINTULU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sarawak Region Director Maritime First Admiral Ismail Bujang Pit and MMEA Bintulu District Director Maritime Captain Aminuddin Abdul Rashid appointed Samalaju State Assemblyman Majang Renggi as MMEA honorary commander during the agency’s ‘Friends of Maritime’ programme held at Kampung Kuala Nyalau, recently.

The operational areas of Malaysian Maritime Zone are divided into five Maritime Zones which comprise 18 Maritime Districts.

Sarawak Region Maritime operational areas are from Tanjung Datu to Tanjung Baram.

Maritime District 12, which covers operational areas from Igan to Tanjung Payung with headquarters in Bintulu, was formed in 2008.

Maritime District 11 with operational areas from Tanjung Datu to Igan  is headquartered in Kuching while Maritime District 13 from Tanjung Payung to Tanjung Baram is headquartered in Miri.

Among the equipment and assets of MMEA District 12 are 117 personnel of various rank and file headed by Maritime Captain, four vessels and five boats.

The MMEA Bintulu District Volunteer Reserve Corps was launched during the ‘Friends of Maritime’ programme at Kampung Kuala Nyalau.
