BINTULU: Samalaju State Assemblyman Majang Renggi attended ‘meet the-people’ session at Rumah Kalang Jok in Kampung Bukit Pasir in Suai near here, yesterday.
Speaking at the event, he urged the village and longhouse folks to work closely with the government; reminded them to set up fire prevention committee under the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and to utilise the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants wisely for the benefit of the people.
“With good road network, Suai will be a vital communication link for the people and they will have the opportunity to develop their land for agricultural and commercial purposes,” he said.
He also urged JKKKs and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work closely with the government to bring optimum benefits to the community.
The government, said Majang, was always ready to assist JKKKs and NGOs to carry out activities that would benefit the community.
Later, he presented a grant for RM18,000 to the Surau committee of Kampung Bukit Pasir to organise activities for the villagers.
Among those presents were Penghulu Nuai Gema and community leaders from nearby villages and longhouses.
