KUCHING: Sarawakians will enjoy better health facilities once the three major hospitals here are equipped with over 1,000 hospital beds within the next five years.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the hospitals will be equipped with an additional 300 beds each.
The hospitals in question are the soon to be expanded Normah Medical Specialist Centre, and another two private owned hospitals located in Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang.
“For Normah, we proposed that it be relocated and equipped with the latest technology and 300 beds. This hospital will be Sarawak-owned but privately run,” he said during the opening ceremony of the 8th Asia-Pacific Conference on Public Health (APCPH) at a leading hotel here last night.
Based on the previous reports, Abang Johari said the new Normah Medical Specialist Centre will be thae state-of-the art hospital, pointing out that once the hospital is completed, it will offer patients a tranquil environment as they receive their treatment.
“We will also make the new hospital environmentally friendly and complement it with a shopping complex and hotel.
“This holistic ecosystem aims to provide patients and their families with comfort and convenience,” he added.
