KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian plans to introduce a new mobile application/apps that will make the public the eyes and ears of the councils.
Sim said the apps would allow the residents to take photos of issues or problems in their areas.
“Not only do we want to introduce technology, like what our Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg has said, but we also want to service the people and make them our eyes and ears,” he added.
Sim also said the apps would enable the public to “supervise” contractors and save the taxpayers’ money.
“If everybody do their part, the services will be even better,” he pointed out when met by reporters after attending the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Mobile Service at Batu Kawa Old Bazaar here yesterday.
Sim added the apps which was being designed would also allow the public to report issues directly to the relevant agency or authority.
“With the apps showing the location, the residents will know which agency or authority is responsible in fixing the issues or problems.
“We want the apps to be ready as soon as possible but of course, it also takes time to test the apps,” he said.
