Taking place from November 14 to 17, MAKSAK Sarawak thrived over the field with a winning streak, game after game.
In their first fixture, MAKSAK Sarawak delivered a dominant 7-0 victory over Majlis Sukan Penjara. The team’s disciplined play and strategic approach were evident throughout, with a steadfast defence that held firm during critical moments.
Despite mounting pressure from their opponents, the players showed remarkable patience and composure, ultimately securing the win.
The team continued their strong performance in their second match, overcoming MAKSAK Kelantan with a towering win of 19-5. A combination of potent attacking play and resilient defending ensured their dominance, allowing them to build on their momentum in the competition.
Team manager Mikelson Jagger Johnny expressed his satisfaction with the players’ efforts, particularly given that several athletes were making their debut at the national level.
“The integration of debutants has been vital, highlighting the importance of respecting the preparation and hard work put in by all teams,” he said when speaking to Sarawak Tribune recently.
“The players displayed remarkable patience, especially when their defence was under considerable pressure for much of the match. They maintained discipline and focus until the mission was successfully accomplished.”
The national tournament is a key event for rugby teams representing government servants from across Malaysia.
MAKSAK Sarawak are determined to carry forward their powering performance as the competition progresses.
