KUCHING: The celebration of National Day 2023 remains good and beautiful but is ruined by excessive and negative politicking, especially in Peninsular Malaysia .

Political observer Datuk Peter Minos said, “Citizens are getting tired and fed up of the negative political squabbles in the country and they wish that politicians on all sides will stop the nonsense and focus on solving economic problems.

“People are crying out for the high and rising cost of living to come down with possible incomes improving.

“It is tough for the low income groups and even the semi-middle class groups are starting to bemoan.”

He called on politicians on all sides, especially the top leaders, to sit down and do some compromises for the sake of the people and country.

“What we see now and for the past few years are endless clashes among political leaders.

“All these spoils the mood for a concerted common effort on sorting out and solving economic woes.”

However, Minos noted that the people in Sarawak were very fortunate to have politicians on all sides see the big picture.

“They are aware of prevailing national economic malaise and they work together.

“Here, we are all united politically for the common good of Sarawak, backed by the people who genuinely appreciate and value unity and harmony.

“Unfortunately, it is not going to happen in Peninsular Malaysia but still we wish our nation well on our National Day on Aug 31.”
