MUKAH: The Malay community in Mukah awaits the appointment of a new temenggong as the term of the former chief has expired in December last year.
The previous temenggong was Hendi Suhai, 68, a former teacher from Oya near here.
Hendi said his term had expired on Dec 31 last year after serving for seven years.
According to him, the selection process for the appointment of a new temenggong had been carried out by the authorities.
“The result of the selection process has yet to be known,” he told New Sarawak Tribune via WhatsApp on Wednesday (Aug 25).
It is learned that among the criteria for selection was the need for rotation of a candidate among the districts in Mukah division.
Hendi had succeeded Ali Suhaili from Mukah.
