KUCHING: The management committee of the Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 held a meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Monday (July 1).
The meeting was chaired by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and aimed to discuss the latest preparations for Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024, which will take place from Aug 17 to 24 in nine divisions while the Para Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 will be held from Sept 22 to 28 in Kuching.
For this year’s Sukma, a total of 488 events are contested, divided into 236 men’s events and 217 women’s events as well as 35 mixed or open events for 37 types of sports.
Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 will also see the participation of 12,619 people consisting of 9,927 athletes and 2,692 officials.
The five sports villages hosting athletes from the 15 competing contingents are Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Kota Samarahan, Sanyan Village in Sibu, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah Campus, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu and National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Miri.
