PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia will be organising the World Summit on Arts and Culture for the first time on March 11 – 14 at the KL Performing Arts Centre (KL PAC), Kuala Lumpur.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) said in a statement today that the eighth conference aimed to inspire the impact of global change in society, technology, politics and the environment on culture and the creative environment.
“This conference also seeks a different perspective on how the government and policy makers seek a balance between current demands while preserving culture in the stream of society’s progress and transformation,” it said.
Jointly organised with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies and the National Department for Culture and Arts, MoTAC said the conference was themed “Mobile Minds: Culture, Knowledge and Change).
“This theme was inspired by Malaysia on the basis of this country being rich in a variety of unique cultures and traditions,” MoTAC said.
MoTAC said more than 93 speakers would discuss various issues in the conference which would be attended by 400 participants from 70 countries.
‘’It is hoped that the conference will be able to find new ideas and solutions through the views and sharing of knowledge by works producers, scholars, researchers, policymakers and all those involved in arts and culture and technology worldwide in the effort to enliven and spur the creative industry sector in our country to the global level,’’ it said.
MoTAC said that the communications service provider, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, would contribute free Yes internet services throughout the conference period.
