Tiger Stripes, a film directed by Amanda Nell Eu from Malaysia, has triumphed as the recipient of the prestigious main award at Semaine de la Critique (Cannes Critics’ Week).

In a groundbreaking achievement, Nell Eu becomes the first Southeast Asian director from Malaysia to win this esteemed category, which serves as a parallel event to the renowned Cannes Film Festival.

As a testament to her exceptional talent, Nell Eu has been bestowed with a substantial cash prize of €10,000 (equivalent to approximately RM50,000).

Tiger Stripes revolves around the captivating journey of Zaffan, a peculiar 12-year-old girl grappling with the challenges of adolescence.

Caught in the midst of her own physical transformations, she finds herself marginalised by society.

However, with unwavering courage, Zaffan defies her fears and emerges as a resilient and empowered woman.
