KUALA LUMPUR: The local data traffic in Malaysia is expected to grow from five to 10 per cent year-to-year until 2025.
Park Place Technologies regional sales director Xavier Surentherathas said this is based on the projection that Malaysia’s data centre market is expected to reach revenues of over $800 million (RM3.3 billion) by 2025.
“This revenue projection is supported by the fact that only 80 per cent of Malaysians have access to the Internet.
“Coupled with the government’s plan to improvise inland connectivity across Malaysia, with projects such as the National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP), the data centre industry will grow significantly,” he said in a statement, today.
He said globally, IT professionals are gearing up for the 175 zettabytes they are about to receive from global datasphere by 2025.
“With demand for data centre management software and applications, IT storage, servers, and networking equipment increasing, the global data centre infrastructure market is facing tremendous growth,” he said. – Bernama
