Malaysia’s high commission hosts raya open house in Namibia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian High Commission in Namibia on Wednesday hosted a programme called “Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia di Namibia” at the residence of the acting High Commissioner of Malaysia to Namibia, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, in Windhoek.

According to a statement from the Malaysian High Commission sent to Bernama, the event saw the distribution and testing of 10 kuih or Raya biscuits, including tart nanas, batang buruk, London Almond, rempeyek bilis, biscut suji, biscuit Nestum, Florentine, kacang Mazola and Sarang Semut.

The biscuits were prepared by chair of the Perwakilan Ladies in Namibia, Datin Noor Zulaikha.

Around 30 people attended the open house gathering comprising mainly Malaysians residing and working in Namibia. They were entertained to a Malaysian movie – Malbatt: Misi Bakara – to inculcate patriotism.

The programme was attended by Senior Vice-President of the Limkokwing University Campus in Africa, Datuk Gail Phung.
