KUCHING: Malaysia are only down to one player left in round three singles action of 38th Premier Sarawak Cup ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J300 (J1) which will be held on Thursday.
The player that will keep Malaysian flag flying in the last 16 of the girls’ singles action would be number 12 seed Saw Jo-Leen who defeated her opponent, Xia Jin Shu from China by 6-3, 7-6(2).
She will have a tough test against number eight seed Zara Larke from Australia for a berth in the quarter finals.
Shihomi Leong could not follow her compatriot’s footsteps into the last 16 as she fell to number six seed ZuzannaPawlikowska6-7, 6-0, 4-6.
Meanwhile, in boys singles action, fellow Malaysian Darrshan Suresh Kumar suffered the same fate as he succumbed to number 13 seed Thanaphat Boosarawongse after hard-fought three sets by 4-6, 6-2, 3-6.
