SIBURAN: Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil graciously handed over a financial assistance today to the owner of a fabric shophouse at Mile 17 Jalan Kuching-Serian which was ravaged by fire yesterday.

Jerip made a visit to the fire victim shophouse, Chong Vui Miau to assess the extent of the damage and offer support in the aftermath of the devastating incident that occurred around 3:25 pm on Wednesday (Mar 6).

“Investigations by the Fire and Rescue Department are underway. No results have been released yet, but typically, investigations takes up to 14 days to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.

“In the meantime, the Mambong service centre is stepping up its efforts to assist those affected by the fire, including providing financial support,” he added.

The fire, which engulfed the ground floor fabric store affected only one unit of a three-storey building.

Firefighters from Siburan and Serian stations were summoned to the location upon receiving the emergency call, successfully containing the fire and preventing its spread to other nearby properties.
