PADAWAN: A collection, processing and packaging centre (CPPC) will be set up at Padawan Rural Growth Centre (RGC) in Kampung Braang Bayur here to support the growing coffee production in Mambong state constituency.
Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the establishment of the CPPC had received support from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is also the Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Minister.
“The paperwork for the establishment of the CPPC has been completed and will be submitted to the State Planning Authority (SPA) for approval,” he said told reporters after officiating at the Mambong Agricultural Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) in Kampung Braang Bayur on Sunday.
According to Jerip, who is also the Mambong assemblyman, his constituency is expected to be major coffee producer in Kuching and Sarawak in the next two years.
He said currently, the agricultural development plan is being actively implemented involving the villagers throughout Mambong.
In this regard, he said RGC Padawan which the construction was disrupted after being approved in the Ninth Malaysia Plan will be redeveloped with the CPPC.
“The concept of RGC Padawan will also be equipped with commercial lots, residential and multipurpose halls,” he said.
He added it included hawker stalls, which has been planned to be built this year as they had been approved with an allocation of RM200,000 for it.
“With that, RGC Padawan can grow and develop with the main activity that is coffee,” he said. Also present were Kuching Division Agriculture officer Chong Mui Sia and Padawan District officer Rangen Jamang.
