SARATOK: A search and rescue (SaR) operation is currently underway for a 94-year-old man, Sipin Landok, who went missing from his longhouse, Rh. Frederick Juan, Kumpai Krian, on Thursday (Oct 17) evening.

According to the Saratok Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim was last seen leaving his home and heading toward a nearby rubber plantation, located 500m from the longhouse. His family reported him missing when he failed to return.

The SaR began shortly after the report was filed along with 15 longhouse residents, and initiated a systematic search within a one-kilometre radius using the ‘base line’ technique to cover the area where the man was last seen.

The operation involved five firefighters with one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle on standby with the police and the Civil Defence Force (APM) also assisting in the search.

As of Thursday night, the search was called off at 9.55 pm due to fading light, with no sign of the missing man, who was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and shorts.
