SERIAN: A middle-aged man died when he crashed into a house by the roadside after losing control of his vehicle during a collision with another vehicle and a motorcycle.

Three others sustained minor injuries.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) said it received an emergency call on the collision at Mile 29, Kuching-Serian Road at 6.55 am this morning.

Firemen from Serian station were despatched to the accident scene. At the same time, ambulances were also rushed there to tend the injured victims.

“Report from the operation commander stated that a multipurpose vehicle (MPV), a compact vehicle and a motorcycle were involved in the accident.

“One victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the accident site while three other victims sustained minor injuries.

“The injured victims were then taken to the hospital by ambulances for further treatment,” it stated.

The remains of the victim, Hii Ting Kiong, 50, were extracted from the MPV and then handed over to the police for further actions.

According to State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Bingkok John, the MPV driver lost control of his vehicle when heading towards Kuching from Serian.

He added that the crash occurred when the road was wet and slippery after a downpour.

The MPV was brought to Serian district police headquarters while the victim’s body was transported to Serian Hospital for COVID-19 test and further actions.
