MIRI: Firemen from Miri Central fire station last night , rescued a man who accidentally got lock inside a bathroom.

The incident occurred at a house in Jalan Jee Foh 3, Krokop, here.

The 60-year-old man was trapped inside the bathroom for more than 45 minutes, before he was rescued by Bomba.

Firemen spent less than half an hour to open the door using a crow bar and power saw.

“Prior to the rescue, the man, who was the sole occupant of the house had started to scream when he realised that the bathroom door is locked, and he was fortunate that one of his neighbours had heard his desperate cries for help that night,” said Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department Acting chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee.

Ahmad Nizam disclosed that upon receiving an emergency call on the incident at 9.50pm, a team of firemen from Miri Central Station was immediately despatched to the scene.

“The team arrived at about six minutes later after the call, and in order to enter into the property, our men had to cut open at least four doors all together starting with the main gate using power saw,” he said when contacted.

They safely removed the man out of the bathroom and the operation ended at 11.23pm.
