SIBU: A 39-year-old man has been arrested for injuring his daughter with a broom stick and a chair for coming home late.
Deputy Sibu district police chief, Supt Martin Koo said the suspect was nabbed after a report was lodged by his 37-year-old wife.
“The suspect who was believed to be under the influence of drug, scolded and beat his 16-year old daughter with a broom stick and a chair when she arrived at their home in Jalan Kampung Nangka at 2am on June 10,” Koo said.
The girl who is the eldest in the family of three children, had been taken to Sibu Hospital for treatment of injuries in her right shoulder and left hand.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
Koo said the suspect was jailed for seven months from Sept 25, 2018 to April 16 this year for assaulting the same girl. He was then charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code,” he said.
