BAU: A man has been arrested during a raid at a premises in Kampung Bidi near here for running illegal gambling activities.
The raid was carried out at 6.15pm on Wednesday.
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 37-year-old suspect was held by a team of police from the district police headquarters (IPD).
“Police seized paper slips believed to be lottery bets, a sum of cash and a black pen.
“The suspect was taken to IPD to facilitate investigation under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said adding that the section provides a fine in between RM20,000 and RM200,000 or imprisonment for up to five years.
Poge stated that the suspect has no prior criminal record.
