BAU: A man was arrested during an anti-gambling operation dubbed Ops Dadu last Saturday (Sept 12).
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the suspect, aged 29, was arrested at Ong Guan Cheng Bypass here around 3.30pm.
“An Oppo cellphone and RM70 were seized from the man who admitted that he was involved in illegal online gambling. He has no previous criminal record,” he said in a statement issued on the day of the arrest.
The case is being investigated under Section 4 (1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which provides for a fine of between RM5,000 and RM50,000 and three years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
