MIRI: A 40-year-old man was detained today (Feb 16) after he threatened his father for refusing to give him money.
The suspect was apprehended at his family’s home in Piasau Utara here around 12pm this afternoon (Feb 16) following a police report made by his father.
Earlier that day, the suspect had threatened to harm his father with a wrench after the latter refused his demand for cash.
Fortunately, the suspect’s sister, who witnessed the incident, prevented her brother from injuring their father.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest made.
The suspect was detained by a team of personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
