SIBU: The police here arrested a 25-year-old man and seized 630 grammes (g) of drugs valued at RM22,025 in Jalan Pahlawan on Friday (Apr 14).
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the man was nabbed by the Sibu Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department (NCID) at an entertainment centre around 10.20pm.
“Inspection found a packet containing a crystallised substance suspected to be ketamine (50.20g) and 14 white packets with juice powder written on them (579.8g),” he said in a statement today (April 16).
He added that the suspect had also tested positive for methamphetamine, and a background check found that he has a past criminal record related to drugs.
The suspect was remanded for six days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides the death penalty.
He was also investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine up to RM5,000 or a sentence to jail for a term up to two years, or both, as well as being placed under supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
