MIRI: Police detained a man for allegedly assaulting his wife of 30 years in their home at Taman Bumiko here.
The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday evening at around 6.00pm.
The suspect, 52, was picked up two hours later. He had accused his wife, also 52, of having an affair.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had been jobless since 2016, resulting in his wife becoming the breadwinner of the family.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest when contacted.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 2005.
