KUCHING: A male suspect detained in Padawan police headquarters (IPD) for possessing drugs, was confirmed positive for Covid-19.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail when contacted earlier confirmed the case and the suspect has been handed over to the Health Ministry (MoH) for further actions.
“Padawan police is currently dealing with the Ministry of Health for sanitation actions and tracking down close contacts to the suspect including officers and personnel.
“The remaining detainees have been swabbed by the ministry and are placed under quarantine in their lock-ups,” he said.
It was understood that officers and police personnel who could have come into contact with the suspect, were instructed to undergo swab tests.
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan confirmed to New Sarawak Tribune that the suspect is now placed under quarantine orders at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
He also confirmed that the suspect was arrested on Feb 18 under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
