MIRI: A man made a dramatic escape after he was caught shoplifting in a store in Piasau on Friday morning (Dec 7). The suspect was reportedly caught stealing goods in the convenience store via a surveillance camera, prompting the store manager and a staff member to follow the suspect.
According to sources, the suspect passed through the counter without any intention to pay for the items which were concealed underneath his clothes. As the suspects walked towards his car, the store manager attempted to stop the suspect but the suspect became aggressive and resisted before entering his car and leaving the premises.
During the commotion, the store manager and a staff member managed to grab hold of one of the stolen goods, which was cocoa powder. A police report on the incident has been lodged at the Miri Central Police Station (CPS). The store manager and a staff member sustained light injuries from the incident.
