SIBU: A 26-year-old man pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court yesterday to five charges of sexual assault and four charges of carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

Lesley claimed trial to all the charges allegedly committed against a teenage boy before Judge Marutin Pagan.

The first three offences were allegedly committed at a house in Jalan Wawasan around September 2021 at 8.30 pm.

For the other fourth, fifth and sixth charges against Lesley, he was accused of committing the offences at a house in Jalan Wawasan around September 2021 at 4 am and at a house in Jalan Ding Lik Kong around October 2021 at about 8 pm.

For the seventh, eighth and ninth charges, he was accused of committing the offences at a house in Jalan Ding Lik Kong around October 2021 at about 8 pm and around November 2021 at about 8 pm at the same place.

All the offences listed under Section 14(b) of the Sexual offences Against Children Act 2017, and Section 377A of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.

Marutin granted Lesley to be released on cash bail in the sum of RM3,000 with a local surety pending pre-trial case management scheduled on May 29.

However, the accused failed to furnish the bail and was further remanded in prison.

Deputy public prosecutor Rex Heng Yi Min conducted the prosecution while the accused was not represented by counsel.
