Man claims voices told him to break into bank

The bank's glass entrance is smashed by a 34-year-old man who claims that voices told him to do so.

KUCHING: A man claimed that he heard voices telling him to smash the glass entrance of a bank at MJC, Batu Kawa.

The incident happened around 9.30pm last Thursday.

Padawan police chief, Supt Aidil Bolhassan who confirmed the case, said a motorcycle patrol unit (URB) was despatched to the scene after receiving a complaint and arrested the perpetrator who admitted to the act.

“The team seized a red brick and two iron rods believed to be used to smash the glass entrance of the bank.

“Interrogations found the 34-year-old suspect, who was drunk at the time of the arrest, claiming to have mental health problem but his patient card from Kota Sentosa Hospital was missing,” he said.

Investigations also found the suspect who is a homeless person, had been drinking since 4pm at a shoplot’s stairway.

The suspect is currently under remand to facilitate police investigation into the case.
