BINTANGOR: A 40-year-old man died after the road roller he was in went out of control and fell into a two-metre-deep slope at Jalan Rumah Panjang Ulu Beletie-Pakan on Sunday (May 2).
A spokesman from the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said a distress call on the incident was received at 11.20am and Bintangor firemen were despatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team found the vehicle on its side in the ravine and the victim pinned underneath.
The man was then extricated and handed over to Julau policemen for further action.
“The victim, identified as Kung Teck Keong, the operator of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“According to witnesses, the accident happened around 10.30am,” the spokesman said.
The estimated distance between the fire station and the scene is 62km.
